Position : Manual Machinist

Position : Summary

Are you an experienced Manual Machinist with a passion for precision? We’re looking for a skilled individual to join our dynamic Diesel Engine Machine Shop. In this role, you’ll be responsible for machining, repairing, and modifying diesel engine components using a variety of manual equipment, including lathes, mills, boring machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and more. Key Responsibilities

Operate manual machinery such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, boring machines, grinders, and other shop equipment.
Machine, repair, and modify diesel engine components like cylinder heads, blocks, shafts, liners, and bushings.
Utilize micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision tools to ensure accuracy.
Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and work orders.
Safely set up parts for machining operations and ensure all operations meet required specifications.
Bore, turn, drill, tap, sleeve, and resurface parts as needed.
Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and conformance to tolerances.
Assist in engine component repairs and rebuilds.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces, ensuring equipment and tools are in top condition.
Follow all safety protocols and wear the appropriate PPE.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and mechanics about job progress, concerns, or adjustments.
Record completed work details as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience in operating manual machining equipment.
Strong understanding of machining processes, setups, feeds, speeds, and tooling.
Ability to work within close tolerances and produce top-quality work.
Proficient in using precision measuring tools.
Ability to interpret basic drawings, sketches, and measurements.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented, dependable, and safety-conscious.
Ability to lift heavy parts using appropriate lifting equipment and follow safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a diesel engine machine shop or industrial repair environment.
Expertise in machining diesel engine components like blocks, cylinder heads, and bushings.
Familiarity with welding, fabrication, or line-boring techniques.
Forklift, crane, or rigging experience is a plus.
